5 March 2009
Artis Hotel, Vilnius, Lithuania
Law firm Lideika, Petrauskas, Valiunas ir partneriai LAWIN together with the International Chamber of Commerce of Lithuania and the Lithuanian Bar Association are happy to invite you to the unique arbitration training: Pre-Hearing Issues in International Commercial Arbitration.
Who should attend? Arbitrators, attorneys representing clients in arbitration, in-house lawyers and everyone who wants to deepen practical skills and knowledge in arbitration. Especially, arbitration training will be useful for young lawyers since it will focus on practical exercises guided by experienced practicing arbitrators.
Why to attend?
- Do you know what you should do and should not do while drafting submission in arbitration?
- Do you know what Terms of Reference are and how their proper drafting can save parties' time and costs?
- Do you know any techniques which can be used for successful direct and cross-examination of witnesses and experts?
- Do you know what discovery of documents is and how it should be effectively managed?
- Do you know which arbitrator is not independent and can be challenged?
- Do you know which dispute should not be solved in arbitration?
All these extremely important questions which arise in every arbitration case will be discussed and answered during this arbitration training.
Moderators: We are proud to introduce 4 recognized arbitration practitioners, top arbitrators - some of them also counsels representing clients in most complicated arbitration cases: Ms Sophie Nappert, Mr Phillip Landolt, Mr Gustaf Möller and Mr Jose Rosell. They will moderate the arbitration training and provide with the latest information on such important issues as challenges to jurisdictions and arbitrators, terms of reference, discovery of documents, direct & cross examination of witnesses & experts, evidence & main principles of drafting of submissions. Moderators are coming from four different arbitration-friendly jurisdictions (Finland, France, Great Britain and Switzerland), therefore you will be able to get the latest improvements and, more importantly, practical knowledge on arbitration issues you are interested in.
Due to an international aspect of arbitration this training is open for practitioners from any country.
The organisers believe that one full-day arbitration training in Vilnius will gather the most outstanding arbitration practitioners not only from the Baltics, but also from Scandinavia, Russia and other countries.
Do not miss your chance to meet your colleagues from other countries, discuss with them practical issues and also make many useful contacts!
